Lens Categories: Understanding Your Sunglasses' Protection

When choosing sunglasses, it’s essential to understand lens categories, which indicate how much light they allow through. All of our lenses, ranging from Category 1 to 3, offer full UV400 protection, blocking 100% of harmful UVA and UVB rays. Made from lightweight and durable CR39 material, our lenses provide excellent clarity and long-lasting protection in a variety of sunlight conditions.

Category 3: Maximum Sun Protection for Light-Sensitive Eyes

Our brown, green, and especially grey lenses fall into Category 3, offering the highest level of protection against bright sunlight. Grey lenses, in particular, have the darkest tint, making them ideal for people with very light-sensitive eyes. This is especially helpful for individuals with lighter-colored eyes (such as blue or green), who are more prone to discomfort in bright sunlight. Category 3 lenses block a significant amount of light, making them perfect for sunny days, outdoor sports, and high-glare environments like beaches or snow-covered areas. For maximum comfort in intense sunlight, grey lenses are your best choice.

Category 2-3: Stylish Gradient Lenses

If you're looking for a blend of style and performance, our gradient lenses (available in brown, green, grey, and blue) are perfect. These lenses transition between Category 2 and 3, offering more protection at the top where the sun hits hardest, while allowing more light through at the bottom for clearer vision. Gradient lenses are great for people who need sun protection but also want more flexibility in different lighting conditions. Our gradient blue lenses, in particular, provide a stylish look while offering sufficient protection for moderate to highly sensitive eyes.

Category 2: Balanced Everyday Lenses

Our solid blue lenses are in Category 2, making them ideal for those with moderate light sensitivity. These lenses allow a comfortable amount of light through, making them perfect for daily use, such as driving, walking, or casual outdoor activities. People with darker eye colors, such as brown or hazel, might find Category 2 lenses sufficient for most sunlight conditions, as their eyes naturally filter more light.

Category 1: Enhanced Contrast for Low-Light Conditions

For low-light environments, our yellow and orange lenses are in Category 1. These lenses are not suited for bright sunlight but are ideal for overcast days, early mornings, or late afternoons. They let more light through, improving contrast and visibility in dim conditions. While these lenses are not recommended for highly light-sensitive individuals, they are great for specific low-light activities, such as cycling or hiking in cloudy weather.
