FAQ

I have my prescription ready, how do I order prescription glasses?

You're almost there. All you need to do is add a pair of MW frames to your basket - remember to select "add prescription" and you will be guided through the process and the information we need from you.

I have my prescription, but I'm not sure how to read it

Not to worry – it's actually not as difficult as it looks! There are some tricky abbreviations on your prescription. You don't need to understand most of it, but it's important that you enter it correctly, exactly as it's written on your prescription. See "Terminology" for more info if you're in doubt.

I don't have my prescription - how do I get it?

Your prescription is your data. Contact your optician or optometrist and ask them to give it to you. If you don't have your prescription on hand, you can easily email it to us after your purchase.

We recommend that you have your eyes checked by an optometrist or optician once a year. Both can provide you with your prescription, which you will need to order with us. You can quickly save the cost of the eye examination by buying MW prescription glasses.

It is important to read the prescription correctly and the following can help you along the way.

Right and left (OD and OS)It seems simple, but people sometimes swap things around.

Your right eye: OD or R
Your left eye: OS or L

SPH (Sphere) -This number indicates whether you are farsighted (hypermetropia) or nearsighted (myopia). A positive number (+) indicates farsightedness: you have difficulty reading up close. A negative number (-) indicates nearsightedness: you have difficulty seeing far.

CYL (Cylinder) -This number indicates the degree of your astigmatism, if you have one. The measurement tells you something about the shape of your cornea. If it's blank, you have no astigmatism. A low number indicates that your eye has a more rounded shape, while a high number indicates a more oval shape.

Axe (Axis) -is measured in degrees and tells us the direction of your astigmatism. Our lab needs this information to produce your sunglass lenses with the correct angle. The axis indication is a number between 1 and 180, where 90 is the vertical meridian and 180 is the horizontal meridian.

ADD -ADD is used if you have other corrections and need bifocal lenses or multi-power lenses. Unfortunately, we do not offer this at the moment and we recommend that you go to your local optician. Preferably with a MW frame under your arm. ADD is usually between +0.75 to +3.00 D and it will be the same amount of power for both eyes.

Pupil distance (PD) -is the distance between your pupils measured in millimetres. It is not always stated in an eyeglass prescription. PD is usually used for multi-power lenses, which we unfortunately do not offer, so it is not important that you fill this in. If you are unsure, we are here to help.

From the time you place an order for a pair of handmade MW prescription glasses, it takes between 10-14 business daysbefore you receive them in the post. From the moment we receive the order, we send the information to our Dutch laboratory, who cut, polish and quality check the lenses. They then send the lenses to us here in Denmark, where we fit them into the frames, do another quality check and then ship them to you.

Just like our regular blue light frames, our glasses come with a 30-day money-back guarantee and satisfaction guarantee– despite being customised for you. This applies both if you don't think the model fits you and if the prescription isn't right. If the latter is the case, we're here to help you check your data and produce new lenses for you with the right prescription.
